How to determine your dog's clothing size
How to measure your dog correctly and choose the right size?
To determine the correct clothing size, you need to take measurements of three parameters:
Back length
Make sure the dog is standing straight. Using a flexible tape measure, measure the length along the spine from the withers (the highest point of the back of a calmly standing dog) to the base of the tail. The resulting size in centimeters will be the size of your dog. If the resulting length is between sizes, it is recommended to consider the size upward. If the dog is heavyset, with a voluminous chest, it is recommended to add one size so that the item fits properly and the dog is comfortable. If the dog is puny or lean, a smaller size is desirable.
Bust
Measure the widest part of your dog's chest. It is usually located just behind the front paws. When determining the size, it is recommended to add 3-5 cm to the resulting volume for a loose fit. We also advise you to pay attention to the chosen model - depending on the style, material or your desire, things can be either tight-fitting or quite loose.
Neck circumference
Measure the widest part of your neck. Usually the neck circumference is equal to the size of the collar. When determining the size of a particular model, we advise you to pay attention to the neck of the product - items can have a high collar or a fairly spacious neck. In any case, the thing should not “choke” the dog. When using a table of clothing sizes for dogs, focus primarily not on the breed of your dog, but on the sizes you obtained when taking your pet’s measurements!

For your convenience and more accurate size selection, you can indicate the size of your pet in the comments to the order. Our managers will select the appropriate size.
The size chart was created specifically to make it easier to select and purchase clothes and shoes for dogs.
Clothing size charts
The manufacturer of each type of clothing indicates its own parameters. Average indicative data is shown in tables designed for pets of large, medium or small breeds. There is a separate table for dogs with a non-standard body shape.
Table for determining clothing sizes for pugs, as well as pets of large and medium breeds:
Designation | Dimensions, mm | Breed (approximately!) | |
Back length | Bust | ||
A0 | 350 | 550 | Scottish Terrier, West Highland White Terrier |
A1 | 300 | 500 | French bulldogs, pugs |
A2 | 350 | 550 | American and English Cocker Spaniels, Beagles, Fox Terriers, Miniature Schnauzers, Shelties, Medium Spitz, Chinese Crested |
A3 | 400 | 600 | |
B1 | 400 | 700 | Bull Terriers, Staffordshire, Wheaten, Kerry Blue Terriers, Collies, Shar-Peis |
B2 | 450 | 750 | |
B3 | 500 | 800 | |
C1 | 550 | 750 | Labradors, Huskies, Dobermans, Golden Retrievers, Boxers, Akitas |
C2 | 600 | 800 | |

D2 | 750 | 1000 | Dobermans, Cane Corsos, Bullmastiffs, Black Terriers, Great Danes |
But how to choose the appropriate sizes of overalls if one of the two parameters - torso length or chest girth - does not match the data in the table? For example, with a length of 300 and a girth of 550 mm, choose size A2 rather than A1, otherwise the clothes will be tight.

To choose the right clothes for your pet, you need to determine what it is needed for. In most cases, you choose clothes for your pet to look attractive when paired with it. But do not harm the dog.
Most buyers of dog clothes believe that in this way they protect their pet from dirt, dust, and precipitation. Pay attention to the length of the wool; do not buy a suit with insulation, so as not to develop overheating, which is more dangerous than hypothermia.
Overalls look good on small dogs. There is a problem with large breeds. The length of the back and the width of the chest do not match the tabular data. In such a situation, I recommend purchasing a jacket or sweatshirt. The products do not have pants. Which means there are restrictions on length. The main thing is that the chest circumference is suitable.
If you use the table to choose a clothing size, be guided not by the breed, but by the actual body length and chest circumference.
An alternative size chart uses the following symbols:
- X (extra) - very;
- S (short) - small;
- M (medium) - average;
- L (large) - large.
The combination XS means very small, XL means very large, XXL means too large. This table does not take into account breed characteristics, but it makes it easier to choose clothes not only according to measurements, but also according to the weight of the pet.

Correct weight and care
For normal growth and development, it is necessary to maintain a balanced diet for the puppy. It is forbidden to overfeed the dog, feed it from the table or feed it in pieces.
A feeding schedule should be drawn up for puppies - small portions 5-6 times, then reduced by age, an adult dog eats 2 times a day.
Don't forget about frequent walks and the opportunity to frolic outside, let your pet off the leash, and play games. Your pet shouldn't spend all day on the couch.
Check for damage after a walk; dogs often injure their paws. Do not give too hard toys - you can break a tooth. Buy clothes for cold weather.
Pets often suffer from obesity; if you feel that you have overfed the animal, contact your veterinarian to select and prepare a more proper diet. When purchasing a puppy, ask the breeder about nutritional recommendations.

Anti-bark collar
This device is a collar that responds to the animal’s voice (both barking and howling). The principle of operation of the device is that it picks up the vocal vibrations of the animal and emits them in response, as a result of which the animal has a calming effect. The device operates in such a way that increasing the barking of a dog leads to an increase in the intensity of “Anti-Bark”. If the dog stops barking, it immediately stops working. An “Anti-bark” collar for small dogs and large breeds should be selected after consultation with a specialist.

Choosing a Collar
There are certain rules, subject to which your pet will feel comfortable in a collar:
- two fingers of your hand should fit freely between the dog’s neck and the collar;
- the collar should be so wide that it cannot be removed over the head;
- The collar should not restrict movement or put pressure. The dog should turn and tilt its head freely;
- The collar should be made of a material that does not chafe the skin. Check the material, feel it, is it soft enough?
IMPORTANT!
It is advisable to choose a collar, like a harness, by trying it on the dog. This way you can better assess whether the accessory hinders your pet’s movements.
Why do dogs need clothes?
First of all, to maintain health. In the modern world, a huge number of decorative exotic breeds have been bred that are simply not fit to live like dogs. For example, hairless Chinese dogs, completely devoid of hair, like humans, need to dress in winter so as not to freeze; and in the summer, so as not to burn in the sun.
And clothing for dogs of small breeds is simply necessary, since their rate of heat exchange is much higher than that of their larger relatives, so such animals freeze and catch a cold at the slightest draft or drop in temperature. Short-haired breeds are completely devoid of undercoat and clothing for them is additional protection from wind and frost.
Many dog breeds are cut in a grooming salon, removing a fairly large amount of insulated fur coat. As a result of the haircut, a sharp disturbance in heat exchange occurs and the dog can easily catch a cold in the first weeks after the haircut. An experienced groomer will definitely recommend putting clothes on your pet during this period.
In older animals, due to age-related changes in the body, natural thermoregulation malfunctions and they, like our grandparents, do not mind dressing a little warmer. In addition, older dogs very often suffer from arthritis and hypothermia can further aggravate this disease. Therefore, older dogs also need clothes.
A mother dog nursing babies can get colds in the mammary glands in winter and needs protection from hypothermia during walks in order to prevent mastitis.
In addition to keeping the dog healthy, clothing serves a protective function. Bolognese thin raincoats make life easier for the owner and significantly save his time during the period when there is slush outside. After all, washing the entire dog after each walk is much more difficult than simply washing the paws and wiping the overalls with a damp cloth. In addition, in winter, city sidewalks and roads are sprinkled with chemicals that negatively affect the skin of pets, often causing allergies. Dog boots also perform the same protective function, protecting paws from the aggressive effects of reagents.
Modern floor coverings such as linoleum, tiles, parquet, and laminate often cause injuries and dislocations in dogs living in apartments. The solution to this problem will be socks with anti-slip soles.
Briefs “for heat” will protect the female dog from unwanted mating, and the apartment and bedding from the discharge characteristic of this period.
Dog clothes are also a source of positive emotions. Many owners of decorative dogs just want to dress their pet glamorously and beautifully. How much joy and admiration it brings to each of us when our pets walking in dresses or in sports overalls and caps evoke in each of us.
