Fospasim for dogs is a homeopathic remedy. Instructions for use. Composition and use of the drug.

Composition of the drug

Fospasim for dogs is available in two forms. Drops for oral administration are packaged in polymer bottles with pipettes at the neck, with a capacity of 10 and 20 ml. The injection solution is sold in 100 ml glass bottles. The medicine is packaged in a cardboard box and supplied with instructions for use.

Fospasim contains components of mineral, plant and animal origin. The minerals include a platinum compound. It has a positive effect on the nervous system and reduces excessive sexual arousal during estrus.

Components of animal origin include the stream of Siberian musk deer. This secretory substance contains a complex of micro- and macroelements. It is used to treat nervous disorders and relieve stress. Homeopaths claim that musk stabilizes blood pressure, increases blood circulation in the brain, and removes toxins.

Components of plant origin include extracts:

  • aconite - to extinguish inflammation;
  • red and white passionflower - to improve sleep;
  • black henbane - to relieve spasms;
  • Ignacy bitter - to stabilize the mental state.

Homeopaths warn that to obtain a positive sedative effect, the smallest doses of components are necessary. Taking individual extracts can lead to a serious deterioration in your pet's health.

What are our dogs afraid of?

Despite all his outward fearlessness, each dog has its own item on the list of phobias.

The dog may be afraid of a noisy vacuum cleaner or broom, experience stress during a thunderstorm, or when the owners swear or speak more emotionally, some fall into completely inappropriate behavior in crowded places, at exhibitions, near shops or at public transport stops. Most dogs do not react well to the sound of gunfire, so the New Year holidays become a big challenge for them.

How can you tell if your dog is scared or stressed?

There are a number of signs by which you can determine that your dog is experiencing discomfort.

  1. The dog is breathing heavily. From the outside it looks like she is very hot, but if there is no reason for this, think about what may be causing stress.
  2. Shaking. This is how dogs relax after a little stress.
  3. The dog is lying in the grass. Stress can cause itchy skin, which can help your dog relax.
  4. A four-legged friend chews grass. Sometimes they induce vomiting in this way to cleanse the stomach, but sometimes they can do this also when nervous.
  5. The tip of the penis sticks out. This can also be associated with sexual arousal, but sometimes it also causes tension.
  6. Signals of reconciliation. Yawning, licking the nose, lowering the ears and raising one or the other paw in turn.
  7. Increased salivation. Some breeds naturally drool heavily, but if your dog is not one of them, it could be a sign of illness or a symptom of serious stress. Surely, you have noticed more than once that when a dog runs out into the street among other four-legged animals, he immediately begins to drool long and hard. In addition, not only other dogs, but also their marks can cause stress.
  8. Diarrhea or frequent urination. Sometimes, due to stress, a dog may not be able to control its needs and “get dirty” at home. Many owners cannot compare this with increased tension in the nervous system, so they feed the dog anti-diarrhea tablets, but they should be given a sedative.
  9. Unpleasant smell. When dogs are sick or stressed, their smell changes greatly, and the stronger the stress, the worse the dog smells.
  10. Bad looking coat. In stressful situations, many animals develop dandruff, allergies and various skin diseases.
  11. Picking up trash from the ground or refusing treats. When stressed, a dog may even chew inedible objects. With very strong stress, appetite decreases.

Duration of admission

Fospasim injections are given 2 times a day for two weeks. The dosage is calculated simply: 0.1 mg of medication per 1 kg of animal weight.

The maximum single dose is 4 ml. If the drug is administered as a prophylaxis against stress, injections are given a day before an exciting event.

Single dosage of liquid for oral administration:

  • small breed dogs – 15 drops;
  • average sizes - 20 drops;
  • large and giant dogs – 30 drops.

The liquid has no strong odor or taste. Therefore, it can be diluted with food and water. Treatment also lasts two weeks. There should be a break of several months between courses of therapy.

Schemes for using the drug

In injection form

The dosage of the drug "Fospasim" for cats is proportional to their weight. The injection form is prescribed at 0.1 ml/kg of live weight.

If the signs of a disorder in the psycho-emotional state are very pronounced (the cat screams, rushes about without stopping, or vice versa, hides, refuses to eat, breaks out of hands in panic), give injections of the drug “Fospasim” for cats 1 to 2 times every 24 hours. In cases where the symptoms are very severe or you urgently need to calm the animal, you can use a double dose of the drug, but not more than 8 ml per day. Repeat the injections until the symptoms of stress disappear.

For chronic conditions (congenital hyperexcitability, cowardice, tendency to hysterics), “Fospasim” for cats that cannot be given drops is administered 1 to 3 times in 7 days.

The course of use of the drug is no more than 30 days. You can repeat after a ten-day break.

Fospasim is used once in a dose of up to 2 ml for cats before induction of anesthesia in order to reduce the required dose of narcotic drugs and reduce the possibility of side effects of anesthesia.

For preventive purposes (to prepare for a move, a long trip, or a visit to the groomer), the drug should be administered three days before the expected stress. For a cat weighing 10 kg, use 0.5 ml of medication on the first day, 0.8 ml on the second, and 1 ml on the third. Two hours before departure or the procedure, 1.5 ml of Fospasima is administered. The next day, an injection of 0.5 ml is given to facilitate relief from stress.

In the form of drops for internal use

The dosage of the drug "Fospasim" for cats depends on age. Adult animals can use from 10 to 15 drops; from birth to 6 months, give from 5 to 15 drops at a time.

For cats under severe stress, use a maximum dose of up to 2 times a day. In this option, drops are used until the condition improves, but not longer than two weeks.

As a sedative for pets that are stressed for a long time, drops are used once every 24 hours, at equal intervals. The dosage depends on the condition of the animal. The more pronounced the symptoms, the greater the amount of the drug needed.

For cats with congenital weakness of the nervous system, the use of drops is as follows: 10 drops once every 48 hours (preferably at equal intervals) for 40 days, then a week off and repeat. The drug can be used for life.

To prevent stress in adult animals (the appearance of other cats or dogs in the house, new people, the period of fireworks during New Year's and other holidays), drops should be given two weeks before the expected stress, once a day. Start with 10 drops, increase the dose by one drop every 3 days. During periods of stress, “Fospasim” for cats is given in a dose of 15 drops, and after the stress factor disappears or if the cat’s condition is stable, the dosage is reduced within two weeks: on every third day, one drop is given less.

Kittens to prepare for weaning from their mother or those who were weaned before 3 months are prescribed “Fospasim” 5 drops for 2-3 weeks.

Side effects

Veterinarians prohibit injecting Fospasim into pregnant and lactating bitches, puppies up to six months old, and dogs with kidney or liver failure.

If individual intolerance to the components appears, give the dog an antihistamine. This condition can be identified by hair loss, itchy skin, and digestive disorders.

The medicine has minimal doses of active ingredients. Therefore, an overdose will not cause serious complications. But uncontrolled use and a frivolous attitude towards dosage can worsen the pet’s well-being.

Dealing with stress in dogs

The fear of various life circumstances in dogs increases when he is alone. Everyone knows that when leaving a dog alone at home, he thinks that the separation will last forever and experiences very serious stress. Both the animal and the neighbors suffer from listening to hour-long howls or the loud and ringing barking of dogs.

Many apartment animals, of course, get used to it over time, knowing that the owner has now left for work, but he will definitely return. But the first few minutes, when the dog looks at the closing door, are the most scary for him. But carrying it alone is much more difficult.

What measures can you take to prevent stress?

  • seeing the dog’s reaction to certain circumstances, try to support the dog with a kind word or treat;
  • give the dog the opportunity to take one position or another as he likes;
  • remember that some dog fears are the result of a traumatized psyche, so it is almost impossible to teach him not to be afraid;
  • Give your dog sedative drops. In case of prolonged stress, you can drink them in a course, adding B vitamins to it;
  • in the near future, try not to burden the dog with training and vigorous games, let the animal completely calm down.
