Attention, danger: dog hunters!

Dosage for dogs

In each specific case, the dose and course of treatment are determined by the veterinarian individually, depending on the diagnosis, severity of the disease and body weight of the animal. Do not disregard the recommendations of your veterinarian for safety reasons.

Purpose of useTreatment plan
as a preventive measure0.11 – 0.39 mg/kg. orally or intramuscular injection every 6 hours
for the treatment of gastric motility disorders0.22 - 0.39 mg/kg. orally every 8 hours
to improve bladder contractility0.22 - 0.48 mg/kg. orally every 8 hours

When treating gastric motility disorders, the medicine should be prescribed 30 minutes before meals. In case of severe vomiting, the drug is administered only intramuscularly, since tablets are ineffective in this case.

Example:

a 4.5 kg dog is given 1 mg every 6 hours as a prophylactic against vomiting or every 8 hours to treat motility disorders.

Doghunters in Moscow

Dog hunters usually operate in large cities; in villages, there were fewer cases of dog hunting last year. At the same time, several events aimed at eliminating dogs were organized in Moscow in 2021. One of these actions took place in the northeast of Moscow on Northern Boulevard.

Then local residents noticed pieces of sausage on the lawn, inside of which needles and other sharp metal objects were hidden. At the same time, in the south-west of the capital, near the Butovsky Alley housing complex, dog owners found poisoned food - sausages with tablets.

There are no stray dogs in the area, which means this campaign was aimed at pets. Moscow dog hunters are particularly cruel: in addition to poisoned meat, they feed dogs meat stuffed with needles. In 2021, in Bitsevsky Park on the Konkovo side, dog owners began to find pieces of meat with needles inside. Fortunately, no dogs were harmed.

But dogs in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug were not so lucky: several of them died after tasting lard with needles. The dog hunters were most active in the Yasenevo and Teply Stan regions. In 2021, there is no information about such actions in Moscow, but it is known that dog hunters have become more active in Murmansk and Voronezh.

Therefore, dog handlers urge dog owners to exercise maximum caution when walking their dogs. Perhaps right now the dog hunters are preparing for a new action.

How safe is it?

The medicine is safe, adverse reactions are rare. Overdoses are not dangerous unless unacceptably high doses are used. The drug is contraindicated for the treatment of animals with the following medical indications:

  • bleeding, perforation or obstruction,
  • disorder, seizures,
  • pheochromocytoma (a tumor of the adrenal tissue that secretes hormones that increase blood pressure - adrenaline, norepinephrine, dopamine).

Metoclopramide may also interact or cause side effects if the animal is taking other medications, including anesthetics, depressants (cyclosporine and others) or supplements.

How dog hunters poison dogs: how to save your pet.

Any dog breeder has heard at least once in his life about the so-called dog hunters - dog killers. These people, as a rule, believe that they are performing an important mission: clearing the streets of stray dogs.

Probably, any sane person understands that this mission is carried out using inhumane methods and any animal, including your pet, can suffer.

In order to be able to prevent poisoning of your pet, you need to know what dog hunters poison dogs with, as well as what you should be wary of and how to help your dog. You can read about all this in this article.

As mentioned above, dog hunters are dog hunters. Their main target is wild animals that gather in packs and pose a real threat to humans.

In their desire to protect themselves and others, dog hunters often use barbaric methods: shooting and poisoning, leading to terrible agony and subsequent death.

In addition to these inhuman factors of their activity, there are a number of others, for example, poison spread on the streets of the city is not always eaten by a wild dangerous dog; it can be discovered and eaten by a domestic animal, as well as a harmless street mongrel.

It is not uncommon for small children to find poison.

After dog hunters visit areas of the city, passers-by discover the corpses of stray dogs, cats, and pets.

These terrible pictures have repeatedly forced activists to contact the police department, but while it is not possible to overcome this terrible activity and eradicate it completely, it is necessary to look for ways to prevent poisoning.

Dog hunters prey specifically on mongrels, but pets can also come under attack

The poisons that dog hunters use are divided into those that bring agony to the poisoned animal before death and those that kill it quickly.

Isoniazid. Since dogs have poor tolerance to many medications, this anti-tuberculosis drug is a terrible poison for them. Death occurs within ten hours, during which the animal experiences terrible agony. In order to kill a dog up to ten kilograms (Pomeranian Spitz, Miniature Pinscher, Rabbit Dachshund, Yorkshire Terrier, Affenpinscher), you only need a few tablets. Usually take 1 tablet per 1 kg of dog weight. To reduce the dose and achieve results, add 1 tablet. antiemetic drug metoclopramide.

Metoclopramide. This antiemetic is also a poison incompatible with life for any dog. Death occurs within a couple of days, through paralysis of breathing.

Digitalis. This is a favorite remedy for many dog hunters. Death occurs gradually: within ten days.

Atropine. It has an immediate effect on the psyche. After eating this drug, even a large animal (Alabai, Tosa Inu, Kangal) will not live more than 3-5 hours.

Arsenic. Due to its availability, arsenic occupies a leading position in the “use rating”. The animal dies within a short period of time: from 30 minutes to two hours.

The dog thinks he is eating a regular treat, but there is poison inside it.

Forms of poison used.

Most often, dog hunters mix poison with minced meat and make some kind of cutlets from the resulting mixture.

Dog hunters also like to make this “delicacy”: poison is put into soaked bread, which is then sprinkled with sugar.

Hunters do not even skimp on liver or liver sausage for future victims. It is also heavily flavored with poison.

Pieces of fat are replaced with tablet crumbs or the poison is ground into powder and poured on top. Sometimes the tablets are inserted into cuts made in the sausage so that they are not visible.

It happens that the poison is packaged in candy or simply cellophane wrappers

How hunters commit poisoning.

There are three ways to poison an animal:

hand feed him; throw poisoned food; leave the poison in a place where the dog is likely to find it.

The first method is the most unpopular, since dog hunters try not to advertise their identity, and when feeding an animal with poisoned food, it can be seen.

But there are people who enjoy their impunity and therefore they can easily “treat” a dog they “like” on the street, even despite the presence of its owner.

The second method is considered very effective by dog hunters, since dogs pay increased attention to moving objects.

By throwing poison in an edible casing to an animal, hunters can be almost 100% sure that it will be eaten.

The third method is the most common and most dangerous for dog owners. Dog hunters love it because they go unnoticed when the poison is left.

Poisoned food is placed in places where street dogs gather: near landfills, garbage cans, behind garages.

Owners need to be on alert even in specialized dog parks

How to prevent poisoning.

Now that you know in what form dog hunters “serve” the poison, you can do everything possible to avoid this terrible fate for your pet.

Dog handlers claim that in order for a dog to die, it must eat a whole sausage or cutlet stuffed with poison, which an attentive owner will certainly notice. Be vigilant when walking and keep a good eye on what your pet might eat.

Pay attention to people who are walking in the dog walking area without a dog and, if you have any suspicions, contact the local police officer.

Put a muzzle on your dog. In this form, she will not only not pose a danger to others, but also to herself, since she will not be able to eat anything. Choose places to walk: do not let your dog go behind garages and dig in and around garbage cans.

Keep your dog in your arms or on a leash. If you let her go, play with her or pay close attention to where she runs and what she does.

Don't let a stranger feed your pet.

Important! In your first aid kit you should always keep ready syringes of different diameters, insulin, 5% glucose, a rubber tourniquet, an injection solution, an ampoule of vitamin B6, a couple of Vikasol ampoules, several ampoules of Heptral, an ampoule of Sulfakamfocaine, enterosgel.

Put a muzzle on your dog - this way he will not eat anything unnecessary.

How can you understand that your pet has become a victim of poison left by dog hunters?

Take immediate action if:

Your pet is confused; He loses coordination, his gait becomes unsteady; Salivation increases; He vomits violently; Convulsions occur in the body; He's shaking.

These symptoms may be similar to those of some other diseases, so be as attentive as possible to your pet's behavior.

The pet's condition will quickly deteriorate after poisoning.

What to do in case of poisoning.

If you admit the possibility of serious poisoning, then you need to take a set of the following actions that can save the life of your pet, and it is not possible to get to the veterinarian in a short time:

Inject intramuscularly an ampoule of vitamin B6 (pyridoxine).

Inject intramuscularly one or two ampoules of Vikasol, which will help stop internal bleeding and save even in case of poisoning with rat poison.

Inject an ampoule of Sulfakamfocaine subcutaneously to improve heart function.

Inject an ampoule of Heptral intramuscularly (and then continue to take it for another week). This normalizes liver function.

Try to induce vomiting. For example, dissolve two teaspoons of salt in a mug of warm water and give it to the animal, or stir a tablespoon of mustard into a mug of water, or force the dog to swallow a piece of baking soda the size of a hazelnut like a tablet. However, the best remedy is a mixture of one and a half tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide and the same amount of clean warm water for every 4.5 kg. dog's weight.

Give a tablespoon of Enterosgel, without diluting, and immediately pour water from a syringe into your mouth to trigger a swallowing reflex.

You can put on a Ringerlock IV.

After providing first aid, immediately contact a veterinary clinic and continue treatment in accordance with the doctor’s recommendations.

These measures cannot be called the easiest to implement, but only with their strict adherence can you save your dog from inevitable death.

Dog poisoning can be easily prevented by keeping a close eye on your dog while walking.

Every dog owner should know this information in order to help their pet in case of poisoning.

But your attentive attitude towards him can easily prevent the possibility of such a situation.

Don’t even allow the opportunity to try something edible on the street, because preventing a problem is much easier than dealing with it.

Doghunters. What do they poison dogs with?

Wild dogs
Abandoned dogs and wild packs in residential areas are a hot topic for any large city. People, deprived of everything human, throw away pets, get them and abandon them on a whim. And not a single such subhuman will think: where will his dog go? Abandoned dogs, as expected by instinct, create packs.

Quite quickly they run wild, and humans become a mortal enemy. You can’t blame them for this: the person betrayed loyalty, sold love. Another reason is the carelessness of people .

We get a puppy and don’t think that in a year we will not have a child, but an adult female or male with full-fledged sexual instinct.

Cuddles appear and the “kind” owner throws them in the trash like banana skins!

Angry tramps are dangerous to others.

But this scourge has a more serious problem - the threat from such swarms to ordinary people. These are carriers of various diseases and infections, including rabies . It is impossible to count how many people suffer from such swarms every day. In some cities, the percentage of such dogs is so high that it is impossible to walk alone.

Unfortunately, sometimes packs attack people and kill them. This is a war where there is no winner and no aggressor. This is a vicious circle created by man himself, that is, by us. You, reading the article, are not to blame; perhaps you have never given up and even help homeless animals.

But now you are going home and a ferocious pack with a leader is blocking the road.

Reluctantly and studiously ignoring pity, we make a cruel decision:
to exterminate the danger , otherwise tomorrow they may tear up the cats, kill a child or you.
And so those who madly love all furry four-legged animals, but are afraid for their lives, have to prepare poison for such dogs. We must remember: the law punishes inhumane murder. Maintain your humanity! We will tell you how poisons work and how you can poison formidable dogs. But choose the method where the dog will experience less pain. Remember that you are only eliminating danger, not settling scores.

Every dog is innocent , it just found itself in such conditions when it began to pose a threat.

What is used to poison stray dogs? Main poisons

Before calling a special dog hunter service, think: is this a good solution? The point is that these knackers often poison the wrong dogs. 90% of ordinary yard or domestic pets fall under their attack, which do not harm anyone.

Most of the victims of dog hunters are harmless animals.

Aggressive flocks rarely settle in or around people's yards. They roam around the city and must be tracked down. They are smart, they won’t trust a person, you will have to think about how to catch them with poisoned minced meat. That is, poisoning dangerous dogs requires work and attention.

Dog hunters will not do this! After each visit, veterinary clinics in any city are filled with sick and poisoned pets.

The dog ran ahead of its owner, sweet and kind, but with a “vacuum cleaner” personality, and ate the poison. Dozens of cats die after such raids.

And most importantly: no one cleans up the corpses! You, dear residents, will have to do this! The result: danger is on the spot, a sea of innocent corpses and sin on the conscience.

Dogs do not tolerate any medicine well, so the main method of poisoning is based on taking certain medications. The most commonly used drug is isoniazid and its derivatives. The medicine is anti-tuberculosis, but is a lethal poison for dogs.

Not everywhere you can buy it just like that; often it is available only in the dispensary itself. But in big cities this is not a problem, since the drug is not a narcotic and is not considered poisonous. Keep in mind that it takes almost 10 hours for the dog to die: it’s painful and scary. To kill one dog up to 10 kg you only need 1 tablet/kg.

For larger dogs - 2 pieces/kg.

Metoclopramide is an anti-nausea tablet, but is lethal to any dog. One tablet causes severe poisoning, paralyzes breathing and provokes severe convulsions.

But the dog dies only after a couple of days.
To reduce the time, you can mix the drug with Tubazid.
All poisons are mixed with minced meat, and then it is placed in the habitats of dangerous packs.

Death from poisoning is usually painful.

A more humane method, in which the dog will die slowly (up to 10 days), but there will be no suffering: the use of long-term killing with a poison such as Digitalis (digitalis).

The drug Atropine destroys the psyche in a matter of hours. A loading dose of 2 t/kg will kill a dog in 3-5 hours. Arsenic can also poison dogs if added to the same minced meat. Arsenic acts quickly: from half an hour to two.

How to prepare poison for dogs yourself

Poisoning dogs in the yard is not recommended! Pets walk in the courtyards, children play, and with their little hands they can find anything and put it in their mouths. In addition, the remains of poisons retain their activity for a long time. You can poison dogs on the street and outside the yard with your own recipe.

The most powerful poison is cyanide. But you can’t buy it easily, so try making it yourself. This will save the animal from physical suffering, and you from moral suffering, since death will be almost instantaneous.

You can use a steam bath or a regular microwave to make a large condensate and evaporate the vapors of ordinary glue. That is, the glue gives off vapors, forms drops, and you collect them. Not easy.

It's easier to buy regular rodent poison.

Symptoms of Dog Poisoning

When taking Isoniazid and its derivatives, symptoms appear within two hours. The dog loses orientation, sways, and stops responding to its surroundings. Hallucinations, severe vomiting, excessive drooling. Severe convulsions are almost always present. The dog becomes inadequate, sometimes aggressive due to confusion.

At the first symptoms of poisoning, immediately contact a veterinarian!

If a dog came under a raid by dog hunters and could eat poison, the chances of survival are low. Until the signs appear, until the owner realizes what’s wrong with the dog, it will be too late to save. Therefore, we always keep vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) nearby.

For large dogs, 3-5 ampoules should be used, ideally intravenously. For pets less than 12 kg, 2-3 ampoules are enough. Don’t be afraid, even if it’s not poisoning or some other poison, it will only get better.

Only this will allow you to survive until the help of a doctor .

Dogs with poisoning, if it is minor, are lethargic and sleepy. There may be vomiting, its strength depends on the dose. So, the first signs of poisoning:

  1. confusion, “blackout”;
  2. unsteady gait, loss of coordination;
  3. salivation in large volumes;
  4. profuse nausea and obligatory vomiting;
  5. convulsions (not always).

Someone will definitely say: the author is a flayer and a sadist.

Indeed, poisoning dogs is inhumane, but what to do if some individuals become a threat to human life? Don't forget that some of them have rabies. It is transmitted to humans and anyone can die.

We do not urge and even want to warn against such a measure. Think before you do this. And if this is unavoidable, make sure that the innocent do not suffer.
