Milbemax: instructions for use, reviews

Pets are the delight of city dwellers. Dogs and cats bring their owners a lot of joy. But they do not wash their paws with soap and can eat directly from the ground. It’s no wonder that pets get helminths from time to time. In a city apartment, close contact with cats and dogs cannot be avoided. Animals are picked up. Pets often love to snuggle in their owner's bed. Children play with them right on the floor. Pets need to undergo preventive cleansing of worms from time to time. The drug Milbemax will help relieve them of this problem.

When to use Milbemax?

Pets, no matter how well cared for, are at risk. It is easy for them to catch intestinal parasites. Close contact between people and animals can have unpleasant consequences - most helminths are dangerous to humans. Families with children should be especially careful.

Roundworms, tapeworms, flukes, and Giardia find shelter in the intestines of animals. More than a third of all known worms are dangerous to humans.

What to do? Should we really give up the pleasure of close communication with our four-legged friends? Of course not - it’s enough to take a responsible approach to the issue of preventing and treating helminthic infestations in them.

Pharmacological properties of the drug

Milbemax is a combined deworming drug that effectively eliminates intestinal parasites of various types in the body of animals.

The base substance of the medicine for worms, milbemycin oxime, belongs both to the group of antibiotics and anthelmintics. The substance effectively affects nematodes - parasites that inhabit the gastrointestinal tract of pets.

Helminths settle in the gastrointestinal tract of animals, but the larvae tend to penetrate both the blood and vital organs: the lungs. liver, kidneys. Milbemycin is able to penetrate the blood plasma and act on parasite larvae for several hours. After time, the active substance is completely eliminated from the body.

Praziquantel affects cestodes and nematodes. By influencing the cell membranes of parasites and their depolarization, the effect of destruction of flatworms is achieved. They die, are digested and leave the animal’s body. The peak concentration of the substance in the blood plasma occurs 1-4 hours after taking the tablet, then it is mobile and effectively biotransformed in the liver. It leaves the body with urine within 2 days.

It should be remembered that Milbemax is a moderately dangerous substance and belongs to hazard class III. The medicine is poisonous to aquarium fish, crustaceans and a number of other organisms adapted to life in water. The drug must be used strictly in doses so as not to harm the animal.

Details

Effect of the drug

All of the listed components of the tablets ensure effective ridding of parasites from the cat’s body. The active substances of Milbemax remove even helminth larvae from the cat’s body. Milbemycin affects the permeability of cell membranes, increasing it.

Thus, superpolarization of cell membranes occurs in muscle tissue, which paralyzes the worms and leads to their death.

The maximum effect of Milbemax is achieved within 2 hours; the substance is excreted in full in the urine 12 hours after taking the drug. The active ingredient praziquantel is effective in infecting animals with cestododes and nematodes.

Praziquantel increases the sensitivity of parasites to calcium ions, resulting in depolarization of the cell membrane, which leads to their destruction. The leaves die and leave the animal’s body naturally in the form of feces. Maximum concentration will require at least 1 hour; the substance is eliminated from the body within 2 hours.
